The Minister of Finance, Mr. Lars Løkke Rasmussen, attended the climate conference in Poland on 9th of december 2008.
Today, the British government has taken a series of initiatives with the aim of stabilising financial markets.
The Danish banking sector is generally robust, although isolated cases of problems in minor banks have emerged. The initially strong position of the Danish banking sector was emphasised by the IMF, when concluding its Article IV consultation of Denmark on Thursday last week. The sector is sufficiently strong to carry substantial responsibility for safeguarding the system.
In conjunction with the release of the Budget Proposal for 2009, the Ministry of Finance today publishes the August 2008 edition of its Economic Survey. Important points in the survey include:

The Danish Ministry of Finance has just launched a new homepage at www.fm.dk, with an increased focus on the needs and wishes of the users of the website. The basis for the modifications has been the most recent user satisfaction survey of the previous homepage.
"The current large surpluses on the central and general government finances imply a substantial reduction of the government debt. This is an essential part of the preparation for the challenges in the years to come in light of the ageing of the population." says Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister of Finance.
