ECOFIN and the Danish EU decision-making process
The Danish EU decision-making process prepares the Danish Government’s EU policy. In cases that are expected to have greater implications for Denmark, the Government confers with the Committee for European Affairs in the Danish Par-liament.
All political parties in the Danish Parliament are represented in The Committee for European Affairs in accordance with their relative weights in the Parliament.
Prior to each Council meeting, the Government sends annotated agendas to the Committee for European Affairs, in which the Government accounts for each case on the Council’s agenda. The Danish Minister of Finance gives oral presentations of the ECOFIN agendas to the Committee.
ECOFIN cases which are expected to have greater implications for Denmark are orally presented by the Minister in order to obtain from the Committee a mandate for further negotiations. All other cases are presented for orientation.
